In a unexpected crossover event that challenges traditional forecasts, Ubisoft has unveiled an in-game partnership between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the renowned anime series Attack on Titan. The surprising holiday event runs from November 25 through December 22, including free additional story content for Shadows players.

Strange Questline Disclosed

According to the formal statement, "A mysterious meeting pulls characters Naoe and Yasuke into a original mission, where hints of forbidden practices and monstrous metamorphoses reverberate through the shadows." The plot presents a "oddly garbed woman named Ada" who tasks the pair with journeying into the Crystalline Cavern—a important location from Attack on Titan—to save her friend from a secret group.

The mission focuses on "strange tests and a fearsome foe" and is available to all players who have unlocked the Yasuke character.

Familiar Settings and Transformations

The preview showcases the Hidden Temple from Attack on Titan recreated as the Crystal Cave. This significant location was formerly where the Reiss royal family passed down the Founding Titan ability through generations. The trailer ends with a powerful scene showing a character, presumably the prisoner, changing into a Titan that looms over Naoe and Yasuke.

Special Rewards and Bonus Features

Players who accomplish the adventure will obtain an unique katana alongside multiple items concealed throughout the area in concealed chests. The update also includes purchasable Attack on Titan item packs, including:

Newest Free Story Update

This update also brings the game's latest free story addition, titled "A Puzzlement." This lighthearted adventure pairs Naoe and Yasuke as they exchange signature abilities: Naoe debuts a performative interpretation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke learns non-lethal stealth takedowns. Faithful to its name, "A Puzzlement" also includes a original environmental puzzle that may ultimately explain some unanswered questions from the main storyline.

This marks hardly the first time the Assassin's Creed franchise has partnered with famous anime properties. The series previously showcased a 2020 collaborative story linking Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga.
